Fashionably, Fabulously Warm!

By Tijana Ibrahimovic

kimono grey coatIt is a new year so it means you have another 12 months to get to the best dressed list of 2013!!! Why not start right away…

Unless you were lucky enough to seek shelter from the cold in the islands chances are you are freezing your tush off in a big city. How do you stay warm and fabulous? I have a little advice for you…

First and most importantly you need a warm coat, neutral color that could match your shoes and bags. As long as the coat is warm and fuzzy you can wear skimpy dresses underneath.

big furGrey, dark green or black are great colors and you you could pick an interesting, non-symmetrical design. I am a fan of big fur or faux fur jackets because they are appropriate for hipsterish casual and for a posh night out. It is all about styling and trend setting. Just WORK IT!

Now we build it up all around that coat…

I am not sure about you but I know I threw on few pounds partying at the end of the year so until my diet kicks in I have to pay extra attention for that muffin top spillage.  I am not worried since as long as i am wearing dresses that have a good cut I look in shape. If you think that wearing baggy stuff makes you look skinnier you are wrong, that is just a myth.

Black stripes, lace, pencil skirts, over-sized sleeves, loose pants are all the trends of Spring 2013 so you might as well start early.  I picked few of my favorites. Anna Sui decided to go with soft colors and lace/silk material while Jill Stuart went for a sexy black lace. Herve Leger  mixed both colors with stripes that follow body shape (very flattering for any body type) and one of my personal favorites is Monique Lhuillier  festive shades of green dress with splashes of gold. These are pieces that are not too revealing and that you can wear for almost any type of event.

Long dresses  or skirts always look great and you can look more avant garde by throwing on an over-sized necklace  or multiple color  rings.

We must never forget to accessorize because even if you wear a paper bag dramatic jewelry would make you look avant garde. I love the way Joanna Mastroianni incorporates jewelry like collar on her jackets.

Since month of January is such  a “sleepy” month a colorful clutch or a fun color shoe would be a joy for an eye. We rarely remember that our make up is a form of clothing and we can wear a different outfit every day.

So put on a pop of color on your eyes, a smile, some decadent baroque fragrance and march towards this years goals you have in mind!

Happy New Year! Stay unique and elegant!
